Taniwha

This H-shaped beach home for two families balances privacy and connection. Each family has their own mirrored bedroom wing, while the central pavilion brings everyone together in generous communal spaces. The layout also creates sheltered outdoor living zones that open to the views but stay protected from coastal conditions.

The construction features a robust, natural material palette: dark-stained plywood cladding grounds the home, with warm cedar detailing to soften the form and enhance its relaxed, beachside character.

A separate garage provides overflow space for guests and essential storage, reinforcing the home’s role as a practical, enduring coastal retreat.
